Submitted by Alison Al-Baati on 04/25/2001 One idea could be taking the class on a field trip once a month to the Kids' Cafe site and let them give the children "cooking" lessons, nutritional lessons, and even safe food handling advice. If you have really young kids at the site, the students could teach them to make things like cold sandwiches; older children could be taught how to follow a recipe and cook something.

  • Getting some crafts donated and have a craft night with the kids.
  • Having a chef from a local ACF teach the kids to cook simple meals and basic kitchen skills
  • Having a puppet show after dinner
  • Having a magician come and do magic tricks
  • Teaching the children "good manners at the dinner table"
  • Having a nutritionist come and speak on the importance of good nutrition
