This weekend at the Dupont Circle Farmers Market, FreshFarm Markets raised over $2,500 for DC Central Kitchen. The donation was used to purchase fresh healthy food from local merchants to be used in holiday meals. By buying locally, these donations help DC Central Kitchen put resources back into the community.
DC Central Kitchen produces an extra thousand meals during the Thanksgiving holiday for local shelters, transitional housing programs, and other social service agencies looking to provide a special meal for their clients.
Chef José Andrés also donated a generous $1,000 to the effort to buy turkeys for our Thanksgiving meals. Thanks José!

Thanksgiving is around the corner and we’re excited to be getting donations of fresh turkeys for our holiday meals.
Butterball donated a huge shipment of turkeys today – and I was there to get photos of Stephen Kendall, our Food Procurement guy, and some dedicated volunteers unloading the truck in the bitter cold.
We also would like to thank Phillip Brown and the folks at the Huguenot Road Baptist Church in Richmond, VA for their generous turkey donations over the years.
And we’d also like to thank DC JCC, who prepare the sides for all of our Thanksgiving meals! We always are looking for donations of the side dishes.
